Live Review: LISTEN: Geoffrey O'Connor 'Jacqueline' (Clubfeet Remix) + Video

1 October 2013 | 10:30 pm | Hannah Galvin

Check out Clubfeet's remix of Geoffrey O'Connor's new song 'Jacqueline', as well as the official clip to the original track!

It's always real cool seeing some of our favourite artists cross paths, whether it's a remix, collaboration, interview (etc). What's even better is when the two musical backgrounds are obviously different from one another, allowing their creative effort to come out sounding rather interesting. This is the case with Clubfeet's remix of Geoffrey O'Connor's 'Jacqueline'.

Alongside his band Crayon FieldsO'Connor has been on the scene as a solo artist for quite some time now, treating us with his adorable lyricism against a 1980's inspired electronic backdrop. Making quite a harmonious dance field, we're grown very familiar with the work of Geoffrey O'Connor.

So when Sydney's Clubfeet came in to render his track, we knew we'd be sure to experience a whole different view on 'Jacqueline'. The intro blows in smoother, as a sector of the beats have been cut out from the original to soften the space a little.

Once fully exposed to 'Jacqueline's other dimension, we bear the knowledge that Clubfeet have chopped, reverberated and dispatched the lyrics to all different areas of the remix. It is with this and the blend of a startled rhythm playing over an eased, swimming synth that makes this remix Clubfeet's very own.

You should also check out the clip to Geoffrey O'Connor's 'Jacqueline', featuring the man himself dressed as a chauffeur, standing in a white room (occasionally turning blue) by a car dressed in his signature roses. While the newly weds make out by a disco ball in the backseat, O'Connor downs celebratory glasses of champagne as he sings his song of Jacqueline.

Geoffrey O'Connor's 'Jacqueline' is the debut single from his forthcoming album, to be released via Chapter Music.
