Live Review: LISTEN: DCUP 'Don't Be Shy' ft. Mereki

We've all heard the maximalist hyper-colour remix of DCUP's new single by WAVE RACER, and right from day one we were so hyped for this release. Listening to the first remix on offer we could only try our best to imagine: "...what could the single be like?" Well now we know.

Shimmering visions of disco balls and ultra-permed blonde hairstyles. Soaring strings, lazer tom drums, pulsing synth-bass and muted electric guitar stabs. DCUP has gone all the way, his classic nu-disco style - feverishly executed with precision - oozes all over DON'T BE SHY. The icing on the cake is LA-based singer MEREKI, her playful vocal treatment results in the track kicking into sexual overdrive.

With producers such as DCUP's steadily growing arsenal of sugar-coated discotheque floor-fillers, it's quite easy to see that the blossoming Australian electronic dance scene is really maturing into something radical and unique, being noticed the world round as something to be reckoned with.
