Live Review: SOUNDCLOUD WRAP: Stoney Roads

30 August 2013 | 5:54 pm | Lauren Payne

Our mates over at Stoney Roads picked out some mad tracks that they found on Soundcloud for us.

Just after releasing their first mixtape Stoney Roads Volume One, Stoney Roads have been hard at work doing what they do best, just being music buffs like us. Purple Sneakers and Stoney Roads are kindred, complementary spirits. We are digging their new mixtape that has just been released and hopefully so are you.

For those who may not know about it just yet, the Volume One mixtape features tracks from some of our favourite producers and DJs such as MOONBASE COMMANDER, COSMO'S MIDNIGHT and LDRU.

Honestly, it's a beauty of a mix and it's showcasing some of the best up and coming talent, so you must think it can't get any better than that right? Well actually, the boys over at Stoney Roads may have been busy putting their mixtape together, but they also had time to make us a little Soundcloud Wrap showing us who else they're loving at the moment. Let the games begin!

LPZ (Ft. CHVZ) - Think For Yourself

"dark, thumping, pounding, rolling, venomous, acid and something we can picture in the swampy depths of a techno rave."

Claude VonStroke - Can't Wait

"Claude VonStroke holds a soft spot with us and he's due to release his Urban Animals LP coming out shortly and yes, we are just slightly over excited. 'Can't Wait' is a good example of how Claude takes a fairly left of centre vocal sample and turns it into a rad original!"

Crookers and Digi - Stiaah!

"I just remember the first time I listened to this song starting off with the chilled reggae vibes, I didn't expect it to turn into one of the heaviest songs of recent times. I like the element of surprise in music!"

MBC - Ekistaitobaiku

"Moonbase is a very exciting Australian producer who could be described as Australia's answer to Hudson Mohawke, not to take away from his own musical flavour! This song is a little older but still holds up as a dance floor killer"

Foamo - Sherlock (Kry Wolf Remix)

"Kry Wolf gives all dem feels in this remix of Foamo. Deep and pretty banging. We are excited to check the duo out this Spring when they tour Aus!"

Indian Summer - Foreign Formula

"We have a sweet spot for Indian Summer and 'Foreign Formula' brings an eclectic vibe. You just feel this song was made via soaking up influences all around the duo to bring a completely unique sound. Kudos!"

M Machine - Faces (Proxy Remix)

"Don’t expect any stabby “Raven” vibes here from Proxy! It's a surprisingly fluid 8-bit melodic take, something you’d catch in one of your favourite arthouse flics or video games!"

RUFUS - Desert Night

"The 'Atlas' album the trio released is killing it. I'm going to make a bold statement and say 'Desert Night' is 2013's version of 'In White Room's holding the same timeless influence, this will be enjoyed by many for years to come!"

Jessie Ware & Sampha - Valentine (Unless Remix)

"A lesser known house producer out of Canberra who has been sending us his stuff and created a killer chiller remix full of happiness."

Josh Butler - Got A Feeling (Pleasurekraft/Bontan Edit)

"This edits kicks and prodding synth pump perfectly over the vocals, it's almost impossible not to get down to this song. Song of the Northern hemisphere summer?"
