Live Review: LISTEN: CFCF 'Jump Out Of The Train'

2 August 2013 | 7:16 pm | Lauren Payne

CFCF has only just relesed an EP, but now has released even more new material in the form of a track called 'Jump Out Of The Train' which features lyrics about escape.

Montreal producer CFCF has been quite busy. Not that long ago he dropped his EP Music For Objects and now he's got even more new material to share with us, that sounds absolutely stunning.

CFCF has a very serene kind of melodic style that flows through each of his tracks, and his new material is no different. All of this material will soon come together to feature on his new full length album Outside, which is due for release early November.

The first track to be released from Outside is 'Jump Out of The Train', it's synths drop like water droplets onto the palette of smooth synths and light, echoing melodies. The ethereal track sounds like something that would work as the background music for a sahara desert walk or a swim in a cooling waterfall, take you pick but overall, it sounds a lot like nature.

There are lyrics that surround themes of escape and it suits the melody as its almost sounds like he's breaking free as a light grinding synth is brought into the mix as the track hits it's crescendo with it's layered harmonies and whispering synths.

One thing I find fascinating about CFCF, is that he names his tracks after inanimate objects and mirrors his sounds to those particular objects as he creates his music. here of course his object is the train and with his lyrics of escape, you can see and hear the similarities between the track and the object, of course that may not be as obvious when you listen to 'Jump Out Of The Train' for the first time.

CFCF has an unlimited supply of inspiration and it's this that makes his forthcoming debut so damn intriguing. You don't know what he will use as his next inspiration so CFCF's tracks are like lucky dip, ethereal, mystical, natural sounding lucky dips.
