Digitalism Announce New EP, 'Lift'

20 August 2013 | 1:33 pm | Tom Hutchins

It's been a while since we've heard from these electro pioneers, but Digitalism are back, and have announced a brand new EP of original material.

They came onto our radars way back in 2007, and ever since then we've never let any new content related to our favourite German duo slip past us. This time around, DIGITALISM, have announced a brand new EP of original material, and we for one - are very excited.

It's been a while since we've heard from these electro pioneers, with the duo being busy touring across Europe, the states and more over the last couple of years in support of their sophomore LP, I Love You Dude. The new EP, entitled Lift, represents yet another high in quality for band and the label that launched their careers, Kitsuné.

It may feel like a homecoming but Lift continues to break new ground for Digitalism. The duo deliberately carved out long-stretches of studio time over the past twelve months to work on some collaborations with The M Machine, Steve Duda and Michael Diamond - all of which feature on the new EP.

Collaborations are a rarity for the pair (except for their colab track with Julian Casablancas), so it's incredibly exciting to see the act take on something they've never really experienced before. Lift is a a taste of what Digitalism are capable of, but in this instance they wrote within the confides of the Dance Floor, but with the expanse and freedom of collaborating with other artists to try and see how far they could push their sound.

They put together a 'mini-mix', featuring all 3 tracks on the EP, as a way to give a taste of Lift will be and demonstrate the direction Digitalism will be heading in the future.
