Live Review: PREMIERE: Sures 'Waste'

17 July 2013 | 10:41 am | Hannah Galvin

We're very happy to announce Sures' brand new single 'Waste' as well as details on the band's forthcoming EP 'The Night Hero Waste Time Getting Better'.

SURES

They initially took over the airwaves with their catchy as hell single 'Poseidon'. Then they released 'Stars', the title track to their official debut EP distributed through Ivy League Records. So what has Sydney quartet SURES been up to since? Working on a brand new EP, yieww!

Although it's not due out for another month, the boys and gal have eased our anticipation with their new single 'Waste'. What's even cooler is that we here at Purple Sneakers are proud to reveal its first listen!

Produced by Dann Hume (AlpineMatt CorbySnakadaktal), 'Waste' kicks off with the captivating vocals of frontman Jonas Nicholls, instantaneously voicing the theme of 'Waste' from the very first line. This is exhaled through soft reverberation both instrumentally and vocally.

With the addition of a steady drum beat and the help of bassist Beth Koulyras' vocals, you'll soon get the feeling that 'Waste' is building up to something mighty. It does.

Working with the energetic instrumentation, Nicholls expresses his angst and frustration in a chant manner, allowing each element of 'Waste' to reach a new level of power and unity. This flourish of vocals against the heavy backdrop of guitars, synths and drums is soon exchanged for a series of "woahs" and "ohs", cooling down 'Waste' until its very last note.

It's a mountainous track that is sure to prod the feelings of anyone who can even remotely relate to what 'Waste' exudes.

Sures' forthcoming The Night Hero Waste Time Getting Better EP is due for release on 23rd August via Ivy League. In the meantime, grab Sures' 'Waste' on iTunes HERE.

You Sydney folk can catch Sures play The Standard alongside Glass Towers on 16th August, ahead of the EP's release. Keep an eye out for more info on that!
