Purity Ring get remixed by their U.S opening act and close friend Jon Hopkins.

Electronic duo PURITY RING have been keeping pretty quiet since the release of their debut album Shrines. Tour after tour have followed the album's release and the band are currently in the United States playing their ethereal tracks for fans.

The duo began musical life in Edmonton, Alberta and since their track 'Ungirthed' surfaced on the internet, PURITY RING have been pretty hard to keep under wraps. Their debut album was released a mere year and a half after they were formed by Megan James and Corin Roddick, now a year after Shrines' initial release, remixes are slowly surfacing.

The first remix we have taken a shine to is the very VERY recent JON HOPKINS remix of 'Amenamy'. JON is touring with PURITY RING over in the United States and has opened for them on various occasions. Being a close friends for some time (JON HOPKINS actually helped mix the track 'Saltkin' on Shrines), it was time for him to do a little bit of tweaking to one of PURITY RING's most well-known singles.

Megan's vocals echo repeatedly as the remix opens and after a large beat, the track kicks into a deep synth pattern that has a very solid beat pushing it forward. 'Amenamy' is generally a mystical track, however JON HOPKINS has made use of some of the lovely synths he has in his arsenal to create a sound that is one for the lovely night spent by the candlelight doing something creative. Everything on this one seems to have its place and it all just melts together perfectly, it's a very cultured track that sits just right in the belly of the beast.

JON HOPKINS has his own album entitled Immunity available to purchase on iTunes.

If this remix is anything to go by, and I'm of course saying this to the listeners who probably haven't heard much of JON HOPKINS' material, then you can be happy to know that the quality of Immunity is just as good as the remix here. PURITY RING hopefully will release another album in the future, but at least for now we have Shrines and this remix to keep us occupied.
