Live Review: LISTEN: Ariel Pink & Jorge Elbrecht 'Hang On To Life'
Ariel Pink and Jorje Elbrecht collaborate on a new track released through Mexican Summer.
It's nice and cozy being inside on a winter's day, but nothing beats going out into the sun with friends during summer. It's awesome when tracks remind you of days gone, pool parties, the night you drank a bit too much and ended up face first in the bushes, or the day you spent just relaxing on the balcony surrounded by your favourite people.
The latter is the vibe given off by a new collaboration between ARIEL PINK and JORGE ELBRECHT. Both artists who live on opposite sides of the states have made names for themselves with their art-pop tunes that seem to circulate quickly amongst their listeners.

The new collaboration brings out the calm power that the boys have in the form of a track called 'Hang On To Life' that seems to slow everything down and take your mind back to those days spent in the hammock. The smooth synths are pushed along by a swooning chorus that channels the old school eighties ballads, like something SPANDAU BALLET might have released. the alternative-rock elements of the track seem to ooze through the art pop and the blend of both genres delivers a track that is perfect for those summer months that will be with us in time.
JORJE ELBRECT has a few more collaborations underway, including one with CHAIRLIFT'S Caroline Polachek, so keeping an ear out for further collaborations is something we should all be doing, especially if it's this sweet. 'Hang On To Life' can be purchased as a 7" through Mexican Summer.
