After a long break in touring and recording, Iceland’s electro-folk experimental collective is gearing up for the September release of their sixth full-length, Smilewound, via MORR MUSIC. But for those who can’t wait, MUM have released a preview of the new LP and a music video for 'Toothwheels'

The song is a combination of their old sounds mixed with the new, a lot of the obscure percussion of their early work combined with the strong melody and songwriting of their last couple albums. It's a perfect concoction of digital beats and a variety of traditional and unconventional instruments with the haunting female vocals propelling through the crystal-clear strings.

The music video is made up of fabricated imageries of children's storybooks of Mum's earlier years. Snippets of the vocalist in distressing positions adds to the intensity of the video and although it's difficult to follow and find the meaning behind it, the strong flickers of light opened my eyes to the lyrics repeated throughout the song, 'practise what we preach' (or maybe I just needed to wake up)

Múm will headline the first ever JA JA FESTIVAL in November in London, along with Danmark's MEW. They will also play at this year's ever increasingly popular ICELAND AIRWAVES in October.
