Live Review: LISTEN: Olympic Ayres 'Magic'

Olympic Ayres have the potential to do big things in the future, but perhaps they just need one more release to do it. We believe this will be that release.

It's now been 7 long years since Sydney duo OLYMPIC AYRES began trading loops with each other, and since that point they've released a couple of solid EPs, gone and done the support tours as well as headlined a couple shows of their own. But now they're finally ready to take over the hearts and minds of many with 'Magic'.

'Magic' is the first taste of their forthcoming EP, Episode III, and is a breezy, danceable pop anthem. It's filled to the brim with lively tropical percussions and as well as soothing warm vocals - whilst still maintaining genuine 'band' qualities in the sharp live drums and funk-driven basslines.

It was produced by Jean-Paul Fung (Last Dinosaurs, Theophilus London), premiered by All Things Go in the states and received almost immediate rotation on Triple J. And it already looks like that break-out track we've all been looking for.

Although we're right in the middle of Winter here, this is a perfect laid-back summer jam, blending together everything that is perfect within Pop and Disco (yes, we said disco).

There is also an accompanying remix package featuring Luke Million, Night Drive and Pharao Black Magic due out July 1, as well an official video - which will be released July 8. Whilst Episode III EP is due out August 1.

You can grab 'Magic' for free from the band's Facebook.
