Nick Luke - better known as MOONBASE COMMANDER - has released a nine-track tape titled Phaze II: Chopped & Screwed that features a series of rap and hip hop artists that have had their tracks scratched and manipulated by MBC; hence the tape's title.

In correlation to the tape's cover art, the mix is a really dark construction of some heavy rap and hip hop. It kicks off with 'Millions (feat. Rick Ross)' by Pusha T, but comes across much slower and smoother in comparison to the original. This makes it sound even more full-on due to the seriously low vocal change.

A few tracks later and we meet Wiz Khalifa's 'Bluffin' halfway. Again, we're slowed down to a completely different tempo, as well as being taken inside and out of the track's instrumentation. At certain points it's just Khalifa's distorted vocals before we're thrown back to all of 'Bluffin''s other elements.

With this same sort of vibe going on as we pass by Freddie Gibbs and Kendrick LamarProphet Posse ends MBC's Phaze II: Chopped & Screwed with a short little wheeze of 'Loc'd Out'. As the song fights for what appears to be it's last remaining breaths, we're suddenly laughed at and teased by an innocent sample of what sounds like a child's toy before being guided outside of this thick, dark mania.

A fairly deep rework of each track featured in this mix, Moonbase Commander has unveiled a whole new character for each track provided whimsically.

Moonbase Commander also wanted to make clear that this isn't a huge release of his, just an archetype of an afternoon of work well spent.
