Jagwar Ma's new music video kind of has this eighties feel of sketches and paintings. You must be intrigued.

Let me take you back, all the way back to the 1980s where it was cool to dress like a highlighter and if you didn’t have a mullet or a perm, you just weren’t cool.

Back in this, lets be honest, bloody weird decade a little band called A-HA released the music video for their track ‘Take On Me’. In this video, a girl skipped between her real world and a fantasy world, which was created from various sketches she had done of the band's front man. The video was pretty exciting and soon paintings and little sketches were appearing in music videos all over the place (see INXS’ video for ‘What You Need’). JAGWAR MA’s new music video kind of has a similar eighties feel of sketches and paintings. You must be intrigued.

As soon as the video starts you’re met with a small painted cartoon character that is suddenly falling into various triangles. If this sounds odd to you then you should probably just watch the video because my description will most definitely not do it justice. The imagery in JAGWAR MA’s new clip is hypnotizing and remember that eighties vibe I said I was getting from it? It’s definitely there but the band have taken a more modern concept and mixed with the older style of music video.

There are sketches of JAGWAR MA dancing away as well, so the band sort of make cameos as little etched characters throughout the clip, but of course the main focus is the little cartoon man who is either tripping out big time, or has and extremely artistic mind.

JAGWAR MA will be returning to Australia for Splendour In The Grass later on this year for those lucky enough to grab tickets to the sold out event (yep, depressing isn’t it?). But for those, like yours truly, who are waiting sideshow dates, we may be waiting a little longer as a series of illnesses have made JAGWAR MA either postpone or cancel many of their recent gigs.

If the band are reading this in bed with a mug of warm milk, we send you our love and hopefully will see you well and dancing around playing for us soon!
