Now that the Groovin’ The Moo tour has wrapped up for another year, the members of TAME IMPALA can return to their various side-projects that usually occupy most of their time. The most popular side project for the Perth boys POND have decided to release a video for their track ‘Giant Tortoise’ which has been getting a hell of a lot of airplay on Triple J.

The spacy rock track is clearly depicted on screen as the video begins with some very trippy mirror images before showing an old television shot of an asteroid in space and fireworks. ‘Giant Tortoise’ plays as shots of the band jamming are shown through very sketchy video images and television clips of AFL games, skateboarders, and an older man getting his head stood on flick through the clip. The scattered imagery works and it all comes together nicely for the clip, but that’s not all we have to show you today.

News about POND’s up-coming LP has been released and accompanied with the video to ‘Giant Tortoise’, the first song to be released from the album; it couldn’t have come at a better time. As most POND fans, and general music fans of course, will most definitely have heard, POND’S new album 'Hobo Rocket' is coming out later this year through the band’s long-time label Modular Recordings. Before we only had this vague piece of information, now we actually have a definite release date!

POND will be releasing Hobo Rocket on August 2! The album track list has also been released and surprisingly Hobo Rocket only has seven tracks. I assume this is because the album only goes for 40 minutes, and musical radicals like POND don’t really need a lot of tracks to show how unique their sound is.

The fact that TAME IMPALA have been touring quite a lot recently probably put a dent in the writing process too, them busy boys gots a lot going on. The tracks also have some pretty interesting names, but you can see for yourselves and decide whether or not the names interest you. I know they catch my eye because well, they are made up of the most interesting words ever:
