Cory Thomas Hanson creates experimental pop under the moniker W.H.I.T.E. With his third album's due date set, check out the first single, 'I Wasn't Afraid'.

W.H.I.T.E

Meet Cory Thomas Hanson - the music extraordinaire that is behind the project W.H.I.T.E. Making shaken up pop music through his experimenting, Hanson's solo project is one for those of you who are heavily into dense, fanatical production.

Hanson started W.H.I.T.E in the American Summer of 2008 as a solo recording project that substituted his usual Summer art school attendance. Having been around for five years, this bedroom project festooned into a big deal, as he has toured his music internationally and is set to release his third full length album in just a months time.

Hanson's songwriting holds little conservative value, as his work consists of textures and layers that have been built from his fervent use of loop pedals and torrented music software. The way he combines these elements together creates an array of lovely moods and evocative tension that is executed in a huge delivery. Take his new single 'I Wasn't Afraid' as an example.

As our editor so perfectly put it, 'I Wasn't Afraid' ultimately sounds like the lovechild of Wigan's The Verve and South Carolina's Washed Out.

A driving compilation of sounds, the main electronic voice is carried very similar to that of an organ. With the scattered beat on loop hanging out underneath and the soft remedy of Hanson's vocals, this track seeks to explode on your ears upon every listen.

'I Wasn't Afraid' is the first single off W.H.I.T.E's forthcoming record III; due out on 28th May via Aagoo Records and is available as a free download from the label's Soundcloud.
