Smile Records have very recently taken the extended version of Belgium producer MICKEY's new single 'Hearstrings Feat. JEREMY GLENN' and have tripled it up with a dub version as well as a remix by Brighton duo AASHTON & SWIFT.

Since an early age, the producer has been hooked on the more interesting sounds of the 60s, 70s and 80s. He's taken this influence and blended it with the house/pop/disco styles of our modern day; which can easily be depicted throughout his entire catalogue.

Mickey (also known as Mickael Bursztejn) also plays every single instrument in his work. That's pretty damn impressive, especially when you hear the layers upon layers that have been created in his tracks, such as 'Hearstrings' - which also happens to be the focal track of this three piece package.

The package opens up with the extended version, featuring the deep, almost mysterious vocals of Jeremy Glenn, which helps enable this track to play on an intense groove of deep house. Mainly surged by a strong piano line, the entire song is thick in its presence due to its abundance of layers.

The middle track is a dub version of the extended track. The instrumentation has been left out in the sun for a little too long, as it doesn't come across as sharp or rich as opposed to the original version. The lyrics have also been warped and cut up, morphing into a repetitive vocal sample. Having said all of this though, that piano line is still evident. Although it may have been weighed down into a deeper tone, it's as strong as ever.

The last track for this package is the Aashton & Swift remix of 'Heartstrings'.

As the dub version was different to the original in the sense that it took on a different depth and tone, this particular remix offers a new genre for 'Heartstrings'. From what began as a deep house tune, we're now adorned with a fluffy dance track. This is the one out of the three that would be best received on the dance floor. It's light physique and beat is more likely to kick you into a dance-off than the original.

That's not to say that you can't have a groove to Mickey's version though. We clearly just have three great, unique versions of one fun-fuelled song.
