LISTEN: Pond ‘Giant Tortoise’

Whenever I hear a POND track I cant help but imagine seeing them performing it live and this track is no exception. Bigger than anything I’ve heard from these Western Australian lads, Giant Tortoise conjures images of the magical and fantastical, and that’s exactly what this track is.

Verses seem to just float by, transporting us a land atop the clouds where we are allowed to drift for a while before the tidal wave chorus washes us away.

I could go on for pages about what influences are oozing through these melodies, who this sounds like and the fact that there is heavy 60’s psychedelic references throughout the entire tune; but that would all be besides the point. This is POND doing what they do best and the only band this sounds like… is POND (I just really like saying POND).

These psych’d out Perthians (Perthians? If someone knows what the correct term is get at me, I’d like to know) definitely have my taste buds tingling and if this the appetiser for what’s to come, I think it’s safe to say the new album is going to be HUGE. Cannot wait to see this live.
