Live Review: LISTEN: Collarbones' Volley Up Mixtape

Everybody has owned a pair of Volleys in the past. Whether they were your sports shoes, or just your plain old school shoes (unless you went to a school where you had to wear big black bricks for shoes).

Volleys have always been a part of our lives, and now COLLARBONES have given back to the company that created these shoe’s that can last a bloody long time Volley Australia, by creating a mixtape simply titled ‘Volley Up’.

Described by the COLLARBONES boys as, “R&B from the future, except that it’s from the present,” ‘Volley’ has mixed the sounds of RAMMSTEIN, ELITE GYMNASTICS, ALUNAGEORGE and other artists together to create a tape that is in fact futuristic.

The tracklist may be short, with only 10 songs being used in the mix, but it is a mix of very talented electronic acts and so the 10 tracks have created a mixtape worthy of any iTunes library.

The entire mixtape oozes cool at the synths throughout each track shine vibrantly and sent you into euphoria as only a great synth track does. Travis Cook and his lovely pal Marcus Whale, have taken their own teenage cool look, sound and mood and found tracks that compliment them fully making this mixtape unique as all hell. Travis himself will be playing a DJ set at the Adelaide Big Day Out stop and hopefully an Australian Tour will soon be happening because I don’t know about you guys, but I miss COLLARBONES and their cool ways.
