Being an electronic producer or DJ seems to get you pretty far these days, and this is something DROP THE LIME knows all too well. Creating “dance music drunk on rock and roll” as he calls it, DROP THE LIME or Luca Venezia creates a mixture of modern electronic beats with old school rock and roll (JOHNNY CASH style) which is an interesting combo really.

DROP THE LIME has released a new video for his single ‘State Trooper’ and starting off with a dark, bassline in a dark room, he struts to the microphone like he owns the joint (which he probably does) and you’re suddenly expecting some deep rock and roll at this point, instead of the dance feel that DROP THE LIME is known for.

Vocals echo over the bass line with a bucket load of reverb, making ‘State Trooper’ sound really eerie, but the song slowly builds and becomes more of an angry track as he coos “please don’t stop me” and drives along the highway.

The video doesn’t involve much, but DROP THE LIME comes off as a sort of rockabilly bad boy which is apparently the look he’s going for nowadays.

He does resemble a young JOHNNY CASH has he drives down the highway, lips pursed as if to say “Fuck you world”, but it’s an appealing look nonetheless, and it just seems to work. DROP THE LIME is currently playing shows over in the US, but he’s sure to touch Australian shores soon, at least we hope so.
