Live Review: FREE DOWNLOAD: The Smiths 'This Charming Man' (Luis Leon Bootleg)

7 December 2012 | 10:30 am | Hannah Galvin

A fan of The Smiths? Love a bit of house music? Well look no further than Luis Leon's bootleg of The Smiths' 'This Charming Man'.

If you’re a fan of THE SMITHS but also love your house music, I hereby introduce you to your new favourite song – LUIS LEON’s bootleg of ‘This Charming Man’.

A really slowed down, deep house track, the seven and a half minute tune is made up of this one persistent beat that experiments with a variety of layers, sounds and textures.

After about two minutes of this experimentation and quivering keys, we’ve finally got Morrissey in the palm of our hand. His detailed vocals capture your attention as he sings slightly reverberated over a chilled dance groove composed of keys and synths.

The track continues in this fashion from here on in, resulting in an entire new look on a Smiths tune. The track was created as a part of Blankhaus Music’s 'Iconic Bands Bootleg Series'.

This is what Blankhaus had to say about the bootleg, “We tried to stay true to the original because of course, like fans of The Smiths, we don’t want to mess up a true masterpiece and we think that we made it. With the touch of a rhythmic bass line entwined with the classic vocals, this is a track that will stand the test of time.”

The track is available as a free digital download from THIS link!
