Live Review: WATCH: Tame Impala 'Feels Like We Only Go Backwards'

13 November 2012 | 1:30 pm | Hannah Galvin

Have you had a boring day? Want your mind to explode? Well then, you should definitely watch Tame Impala's new clip to 'Feels Like We Only Go Backwards'!

It's not a secret - TAME IMPALA are an excellent band and Lonerism is an excellent record. We've watched their tour diaries and have played their clips. Looked up interviews and longed to watch them perform, even if some of us have already. It's that time to feed your Tame Impala obsession as they've just released the clip to their newbie, 'Feels Like We Only Go Backwards'.

Descending into the psychedelic universe, we watch as the profile of a head falls back into another head which is being overtaken by a new head which soon gets replaced by yet another head.

It's kind of like the White Stripes' film clip for their track 'Seven Nation Army', just executed with a completely different palette, driven by a completely different sound and falling into the opposite direction.

However, when this isn't happening, we watch a man run up an endless flight of stairs, as well as a bunch of doors open that lead to more doors opening until we're lost in space. Then the heads come back to mess with our minds all over again!

The punchy drums, expressive vocals and rich instrumentation collaboratively work with the bursting colours and patterns of the clip. It's in a format almost reminiscent to what you would find in a Beatles animation, such as the Yellow Submarine film.

Obviously illustrating the frustration from what the vocals are expressing, the clip to 'Feels Like We Only Go Backwards' is one that was created from a simple idea, yet is visually perceived in the most chaotic way possible.
