Live Review: LISTEN: Two Door Cinema Club 'Sun' (Logo Remix)

16 November 2012 | 12:00 pm | Lauren Payne

One band that has been on the Falls bill for a while is TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB who earlier this year released their second studio album Beacon.

So Falls Festival has boasted a pretty amazing line-up for their show this year. Indie musos would’ve been frothing at the mouth at the stellar line-up that is sure to make for an amazing day of music.

One band that has been on the bill for a while is TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB who earlier this year released their second studio album Beacon.

Now Beacon is an album that sounds a lot more mysterious than the band’s first release Tourist History, and after listening to the album over and over, one of my favourite tracks would have to be ‘Sun’. This particular track has a nice casual vibe, beginning with a nice quiet intro and having a pretty cruisey melody, but you can’t go past that lovely break of which is just filled with the vocals and a light drum beat.

Many people have produced remixes of ‘Sun’ since the initial release of Beacon, and every one of them has been unique, and this new remix by LOGO is no exception. Getting right into the song, LOGO has begun his remix with the vocals jumping right in and a light beat accompanying it with a few light synths present. More synths are gradually added into the mix until, that lovely break that I mentioned earlier comes into play. The beat suddenly stops and is replaced with ethereal synths hovering around the vocals like colourful smoke. Keeping true to the original mix of ‘Sun’, LOGO has kept the chilled out mood but has used synths simply to create a track that is one of the most smooth remixes I’ve heard in a while.

TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB will be touring with THE VACCINES and THE JUNGLE GIANTS early next year following their Falls Festival appearances, and these shows have become one of the most anticipated tours of 2013 (even though we have only heard of tours through January and February) and  not surprisingly their Brisbane show at The Tivoli has SOLD OUT! So if you’re in any other state, get in quick to catch these guys next year!
