We know him as Mikey Perry, you know him as half of Gold Coast DJ duo/party kings – Surecut Kids. But do you know him as PACES, yet? If not, we have the perfect way to introduce you.
On the back of performing all over the place with Surecut, Perry has somehow found the time to not only produce an albums worth of originals as well a myriad of impressive remixes and bootlegs – he has also put together a brand new Mixtape. And we at Purple Sneakers are stoked to bring you the World Premiere of it.
Aptly titled, Introductions, the mix is a great selection of Paces recent remixes, originals (a couple of unreleased ones), bootlegs, and some tracks from the most tastemaking acts in the scene. And really is the best way to get up close and personal with one of the country’s most promising new producers – especially if you haven’t had a chance to enjoy his creations before.
Coming in at just under an hour in length, Introductions, is a melancholic and relaxed mix blending reverb heavy synths with Hip-Hop and house inspired beats seamlessly. It also features remixes and originals from Parachute Youth, The XX, Chet Faker, Disclosure and more. Oh, there are also two, count it, two Destiny’s Child re-working’s in there – you know it can’t be a Mixtape without some 90’s R&B.
It’s extremely chill on the ears and mind, but it’s definitely not a Chillwave and that’s why we love it. It’s definitely going to get you in the mood for summer, and since we’re finally coming into some warmer weather – it seems like the perfect time to unleash this beast for the very first time. So grab some headphones or an auxiliary cable and enjoy the fruits of Paces loins.
We’ve been told that for best results; listen to it with a loved one(s) at the beach.
