Live Review: LISTEN: The Presets ‘Ghosts’ (Hermitude Trapped In Heaven & Dj Spinn Teklife Remixes)

Holy shit, thank god THE PRESETS new album ‘Pacifica’ is as great as was anticipated. I literally breathed the biggest sigh of relief when I heard the opening track, an unfortunate result of the expectation bar simply being too high. As a feature track, ‘Ghosts’ is the ultimate snapshot of where THE PRESETS currently stand.

The haunting glass-like noises, subtle bass hits and extremely tentative lyrics portray their typical Presets-esque style, but they’ve 100% stepped it up. With the introduction of a fabulous new track, there’s always bound to be some remixes floating around the abyss of the internet. Two in particular being the ‘Hermitude Trapped In Heaven Remix’ and the ‘DJ Spinn Teklife Mix’ of ‘Ghosts’.

The ‘Hermitude Trapped In Heaven Remix’ really plays on the instrumental side of the track, overlaying a snare at the intro, then phasing into an array of ornamental sounds. This would definitely be something you play when the interpretive dance monster rises in you, the sound changes from one extreme to the other so quickly, it’s a multi-sound portrayal at its best.

Contrastingly, the ‘DJ Spinn Teklife Mix’ hits us with more of a drum and bass feel; more subtle, more lyrics, more relaxing and more of a connection with the original track. The obvious elements of the original are captured in a more subtle way in this remix.

Both remixes are worthy of a listen, they do the original track proud and are still showing different aspects of differentiation.
