Live Review: LISTEN: Star Slinger 'Take This Up’

18 September 2012 | 10:30 am | Lauren Payne

Star Slinger is from Manchester and if you know your music history (because you’re a music nerd like me) is the birthplace of New Order.

It’s official, the United Kingdom is just plain brilliant. I remember when I first started listening to what I call ‘proper music’ I thought that the United States had it all figured out. Well now, I was totally wrong!

The UK has been pumping out some spectacular artists for many years like the ARCTIC MONKEYS, HOT CHIP, BLOC PARTY and of course THE BEATLES/DAVID BOWIE. It's been the indie music capitol for years and continues to tightly hold it's grip on the title. To prove this, I will now draw your attention to STAR SLINGER.

STAR SLINGER is from Manchester and if you know your music history (because you’re a music nerd like me) is the birthplace of NEW ORDER. STAR SLINGER first came onto the scene in 2010 by releasing his own mixtape Volume 1, and after collaborating with artists such as JUICY J and PROJECT PAT, he is yet another British musician you should keep an eye on. STAR SLINGER has been hard at work lately and the result of that hard work is his new single ‘Take This Up’.

‘Take This Up’ features a light beat and on the whole is a track you can listen to anytime. The light beats and synths blend together to form a fantastic track with the simplest of lyrics. STAR SLINGER describes himself as a ‘vibe consultant’ and so this track should give off a decent vibe, and of course it does. ‘Take This Up’ gives off a relaxed vibe making it a suitable track for weekends with friends, workouts in the gym, or just being a sloth around the house.  It’s really a dance track that can be used for any occasion.

STAR SLINGER  is playing with fellow dance project  BATHS at an event he calls Jet Jam, but unfortunately Jet Jam will be over in the United States so for now, enjoy STAR SLINGER’s new track.
