Although the track is a year old, this new video gives me goosebumps. Washed Outs ‘A Dedication’ really makes you feel something.

Although the track is a year old, this video gives me goosebumps. With soft silhouettes and a sad, almost aching piano riff, WASHED OUT’s new clip for ‘A Dedication’ really makes you feel something.

At 1:20 when that synth comes in like a heartbeat. The flickering images of love and loss and wonder. That snare that appears at exactly the right moment.

There is a definite story underneath the surface of this song. The clip eludes to it; to heartbreak and regret and passion and life. But these themes are broad and I don’t think sussing out the ‘proper’ meaning behind ‘A Dedication’ is the exactly the point. I think the point is to let it in, to reminisce in whatever it makes you think or feel or remember.

Because that’s the whole idea behind music after all. It is an expression of feeling. And if all musicians can inspire soul like WASHED OUT do in ‘A Dedication,’ there will be a hell of a lot less Top 40, and hopefully a lot more goose-pimply, good music appreciative, deep thinking people.
