27 August 2012 | 3:30 pm | Lauren Payne

Animal Collective's brand new album Centipede Hz is available to stream on their online radio station that was launched last month!

Fans of experimental / psychedelic band ANIMAL COLLECTIVE will remember their previous album Merriweather Post Pavilion and how amazing it was. Merriweather Post Pavilion is a fantastic album full of light synths and some very odd, but chirpy lyrics and is best listened to when you’re with your friends and laughing your guts off.

And now, ANIMAL COLLECTIVE’s brand new album Centipede Hz is available to stream on their online radio station Animal Collective Radio, that was launched last month. The band has said that they have moved away from their sample-heavy direction that they used for Merriweather Post Pavilion and recorded Centipede Hz as a rock band.

Centipede Hz sounds like it was made on an alien spaceship. The synths are still present but they are much heavie,r and paired with lots of distorted guitars and various other noises that come from lord knows where, Centipede Hz is an album that pushes the boundaries of conventional rock and electronica. And who doesn’t love a bit of rule breaking?

Not only is the album itself incredibly refreshing to hear; the way ANIMAL COLLECTIVE have presented it on their radio station is even more interesting. The band has decided to stream the album using video. Fans can listen to the entire album whilst watching a trippy video that, if you stream the entire album, goes for 53 minutes.

Centipede Hz isn’t set for release until September 3 but until then; enjoy the album generously being streamed right now on Animal Collective Radio.
