Live Review: LISTEN: King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard ‘Elbow’

First things first. KING GIZZARD AND THE LIZARD WIZARD are releasing their DEBUT ALBUM September 7^th. I’m going to let this sink in and give you my reaction to this news in quotation form, as we say in the business. “HOLY SHIT YEShskjdowsdjaahhh!!!!!” (Seriously, ask my editor.)

To mark this most excellent of dates, the second single to be lifted off the album, ‘Elbow’, is out and ready to hit the ears of the people. With their discordant, chaotic, fuzzed out sound; KING GIZZARD AND THE LIZARD WIZARD don’t disappoint, a hard task considering the first tune taken from the album, ‘Bloody Ripper’ was freaking genius.

Let me paint you a mind picture of ‘Elbow.’ From the first chord you know something’s going down. This song is literally what KG&TLW are all about; hazed guitar, rad bass, wicked drums and crazed vocals. With an appropriate ‘Eh Eh Eh’ and a gnarly guitar solo right at the end that has you head banged and spinning, ‘Elbow’ is GIZZARD at its best. But forget mind pictures, listen to it yourself.
