Live Review: LISTEN: Elliphant 'Cian't Hear It'

13 July 2012 | 9:00 am | Staff Writer

Swedish artist Elliphant has managed to immediately grab the attention of on-the-ball blogs everywhere with two huge debut tracks

It takes a lot of confidence, talent and charisma to come out of nowhere and drop two massive tracks (the first being "TeKKno Scene") that immediately grab the attention of on-the-ball blogs everywhere; but that seems to be exactly what unknown Swedish artist ELLIPHANT has managed to achieve.

Despite the current influx of brilliant, bass heaving hip hop in 2012 (Switch's breathtaking remix of M.I.A.'s "Bad Girls" y'all?!), this track, "Cian't Hear It" sticks it's arse firmly out of from the crowd.

With smutty as hell lyrics delivered with the sincerity of someone who really doesn't give a shit and production that rivals Diplo on his best day it's a surprise that this track isn't getting blasted in clubs, on the radio and your little sisters iPod. What's even more surprising is at the time of publishing the damn thing has only had 1839 plays on Soundcloud.

But maybe I'm just sitting on this thing early. Have a listen for yourself and decide whether or not this thing is worth getting low to (if you think it's not, then you're wrong).

All I know is, it's got me thinking Azealia Banks isn't the only female hip hop artist with a blinding future and that M.I.A. has some Swedish competition.
