Live Review: LISTEN: Dinosaur Jr. 'Watch the Corners'

9 July 2012 | 1:30 pm | Hannah Story

We're licking our lips waiting for Dinosaur Jr.'s newest album 'I Bet On Sky.' Here's a taste.

Although lead J. Mascis has been busy with side project Heavy Blanket (have a lick HERE), he's still got time for old faithful and crowd favourite band DINOSAUR JR. Thankfully.

I Bet On Sky is their tenth LP since the lads got together in 1984. One of the first tracks is 'Watch the Corners.' It's got their signature garage sound: a sludgy not-return-because-they-never-departed to form. It never stops impressing us that these three guys have managed to release tracks such as these that still maintain the effortless cool of their early work.

Just three dudes, the three original dudes even: Mascis on vox and guitar, Lou Barlow on bass and Murph on drums. It's a slow whirring croon about relationships, with a sweet solo in just the right spots (yes plural. He shreds twice). It's exactly what we wanted to hear.
