Live Review: WATCH: The Bamboos 'I Never' (Official Video)

Daniel Merriweather is the latest Australian artist to collaborate with THE BAMBOOS on their new album Medicine Man. He contributes a soulful vocal performance on the single ‘I Never’.

The song itself grows on you with every listen. It contains a simple, catchy guitar riff and production that reflects the band’s decision to focus on a full-bodied sound for this album. The boppy keyboard and Merriweather’s vocals combine for a good grooving experience that definitely has more soul than the video.

I wish the band had entrusted this clip to Kess Broekman-Dattner who directed the magnificent ‘I Got Burned’ video. As it stands, the ‘I Never’ video adds little to the enjoyment of the track. The empty house works well with the haunting backing vocals, but this it ultimately a typical ‘band plays song in high definition’ video giving the feeling that you’ve seen it a hundred times before. I expect better from such an awesome Melbourne band, but the song is spot on and could be the perfect soundtrack for a chilled night.
