Live Review: LISTEN: Blood Diamonds 'Phone Sex' ft Grimes

Behold two artists on top of the ‘cool’ list at the moment. BLOOD DIAMONDS teams up with fellow Canadian hipster and flavor of the year GRIMES, creating this buzzy, steel drums inspired number titled ‘Phone Sex’. I cannot speak highly enough of GRIMES’ dreamy vocals and upon first listen you would be forgiven in thinking you’ve gone back to the nineties and AQUA is rocking ya socks (don’t even act like they didn’t). Her vocals seamlessly combine with BLOOD DIAMONDS' soft electro beat for simply a match made in heaven. GRIMES had previously explained that ‘Phone Sex’ was written after drinking a not-so-standard amount of gin, and defined the song as "a K-pop version of 'We Found Love' by Rihanna."

Don’t ever cheapen yourself like that again GRIMES.

But hey, whatever gin makes you sing ‘hey daddy, hey daddy, its too soon, hey daddy, hey daddy, I’m living on the moon’, is definitely some gin I want to try.

The ‘Phone Sex’ single comes out on transparent pink vinyl on July 24th via 4AD, and will feature remixes from two like-hearted beacons of cool, minty pop, Unicorn Kid and Jensen Sportag. ‘Phone Sex’ is the lead single off BLOOD DIAMONDS' upcoming debut, What, though it’s going to be tough to follow up with a first taste this good.
