Live Review: LISTEN: Kimbra 'Come Into My Head'

7 May 2012 | 11:33 am | Hannah Story

Kimbra makes us happy like no other girl can. We love her. All of us at Sneakers either want to be her significant other or just be her.

KIMBRA is my perfect woman. She’s taking the world by storm. She’s got the vocal chutzpah, the talent, the eccentricity of a global musical superpower. Her eclectic mish-mash of genres makes her one of the most original indie songstresses to crash from space onto the music scene. Yup, she’s from space; she belongs in the stars. Oh and she’s the stuff indie wet dreams are made of.

She’s about to release her extremely successful debut Vows over in the USA. ‘Come Into My Head’ is very different from the rest of the album. I’m not sure it flows so well, but stand-alone, it’s a piece of delectable funk. I lick my lips, hungry. The opening is a bit grimy but then delves into her signature wailing and sensual crooning. The addition of big band instruments adds depth of sound to the depth of her vocals. Kimbra, do you want to know what I really think? I think this song is wonderful, just like the rest of your work. She’s one-of-a-kind, adding a spark and passion to the international music scene that should be inspiring young girls everywhere.

She kills it. She kills my heart too. Oh Kimbra, why wont you be mine? Or at the least be a friend and share your wardrobe with me?
