Live Review: WATCH: The Laurels 'Tidal Wave'

13 April 2012 | 4:00 pm | Hannah Story

'Tidal Wave' is the first track from The Laurel's forthcoming album. Get excited, ladies and gents, this is going to rule.

Sydney shoegaze band THE LAURELS have been picked up by one of our favourite record labels Rice Is Nice (Richard In Your Mind, Shady Lane). Which means that their long-awaited debut album is finally coming out; those of us thirsty to relive their energetic live show are thrilled to hear that.

This little clip is very psychedelic. By psychedelic, we mean bizarre. Art, cartoons, rainbows, nothing is sacred. It’s a montage and you never know what old footage will pop up next to wig you out. Frontman Luke O’Farrell is sounding a lot like Oasis singer Liam Gallagher this time. And you know what? The song rules regardless. Grungey, scummy psych is where the cool kids are at.

Check them out this month when they tour with Pond.
