Live Review: LISTEN: Solar Bears 'Cosmic Runner'

SOLAR BEARS’ ‘Cosmic Runner’ comes in waves, juxtaposing the very electronic and the very organic, forming a strangely perfect harmony. The pulsating melody fills your mind with images of crisp, clean lines weaving their way through architecturally beautiful buildings and expanses of white, taking the mind’s eye on a rollercoaster ride through the starry dynamo.

A feeling of flying takes each one of your limbs as you float over sapphire blue lagoons, gently contorting your skeletal structure from a place unknown, and as you gaze down at your now fantastical being you notice psychedelic projections upon your open torso and lungs. Lofty and light, your body glides through the hyperspace of strobing summer skies to rendezvous with the spirit of an European lover amongst the swells of phased-out strings swimming by the English seaside.

As you rest your head upon your intergalactic pillow, dreaming of the latest Horrors’ film clip, you notice a sterility to ‘Cosmic Runner’ in the purest of forms, in the way that the entire spectrum of colours are combined to form white light, hypnotising. I feel I could listen to this over and over and over, it seems to meld with the consciousness in the most unobtrusive of ways, in fact… (presses play again).
