Live Review: LISTEN: Hodgy Beats & Domo Genesis (Prod. Lex Luger) ‘Timbs’

The stream of ‘Timbs’ that is available on HODGY BEATS tumblr features intense lyrics spat over a continually haunting beat mixed by producer LEX LUGER, a man who has worked with the likes of Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg.

‘Timbs’ is short yet sweet as HODGY starts off with vicious rhymes that overpower the kind of beat you would sit in the corner and rock back & forth to. The scene that is set is dramatic and dark almost as if it was mixed in Gotham City and LUGER doesn’t disappoint as this track is produced in such a way that the rhymes become the cherry on top of the song.

GENESIS finishes off the track with lyrics that compliment the duo’s stage name, Mellowhigh and you are left feeling as if you just sat through a round of passionate slam poetry. The track doesn’t hold the bells and whistles of the latest hip hop tunes to come out of the studio, but there is a humble tone to the track that is refreshing and leaves you wanting to hear more from the brash vocal chords of HODGY and GENESIS.
