FLASHBACK: Beirut 'Elephant Gun'

If BEIRUT's 'Elephant Gun' doesn't make you want to go out and buy a ukulele, then I don't know what will. The opening instrumental piece featuring the uke was one of the many reasons this song stood out. Despite the lyrical ambiguity, the addition of Zach Condon’s combines a serenade for and development of folk love perfectly.

'Elephant Gun' first featured on BEIRUT's Lon Gisland EP back in early 2007 and is still one of the most beautifully orchestrated songs I have heard in a long time. Ever since, I often find myself drawn to put on some BEIRUT once in a while and let it all out: tears, laughter and everything else in between.

The song draws you along on such a raw poignant rollercoaster leaving you utterly memorised. In terms of music in 2007 (as well as now) BEIRUT was a band to be reckoned with and 'Elephant Gun' was one of those songs that made the year memorable.
