24 February 2012 | 1:00 pm | Staff Writer

Slings & Arrows are a fresh new band that have cropped up this year. We asked them a bunch of questions to get to the gritty of who they are

Have you heard of SLINGS & ARROWS? We don't blame you if you haven't. If we were talking human age they'd still be considered newborns. They're pretty fresh. So fresh that we found 'em before they even had 5 Facebook fans - Get in early and you can say you knew them before they were big!! Their first release is available as a free download below.

PhDJ (aka Martin Novosel) asked them a handful of questions to get the gritty on what they're all about.

PS: What is Slings & Arrows?

SA: Slings & Arrows is an online music project. We make catchy songs, record them to old tape recorders in old theaters, places with great echo, or wherever we can sneak into. Soon we will be making videos.

PS: Who is S&A's

SA: We are Mike Storey, Matt Pierce, Eddie Von Bach and an assortment of whatever friends can help pitch in.

PS: What is the goal of S&A's?

SA: To have fun and to make people sing and dance.

PS: Where is Slings & Arrows?

SA: We are in Brooklyn and Baltimore and London and wherever friends who can contribute to the project live.

PS: Will you ever be anything other than a virtual band that releases online content?

SA: We hope so, but we've only been around for 2 months--probably some day.

PS: Tell me something about the lyrics.

SA: S&A's music is about myth, magic and mayhem, it's about biblical psychedelia  and the unknown--think of us as taking a page out of the book of The Pixies' "Doolittle".

PS: Tell us something about the music.

SA: The music is catchy and made on keyboards, organs, drums, guitars, glockenspiel, and  vocal harmonies--whatever we have lying around. This first set of recording is reminiscent of the The Velvet Underground and The Beatles' psychedelic period, but we have a lot of music under our sleeves, yet to be revealed.

PS: What is that picture on the front cover of your record?

SA: It's our version of a Rorschach test. Look closely and tell us what you see.

PS: How can we learn more about you?

SA: Well, like I said, we're only two months old so we don't know much about us ourselves either. But you can hear us on our Bandcamp Page and write to us at info@slingsandarrows.com

We like to make new friends.
