Sydney Festival Announcement 2012

The Sydney Festival has announced its summer of entertainment that will be taking over the city from January 7th to 29th.  The festival is huge covering every cultural facet; dance, theatre, art…but we couldn’t help but skip straight to the music section.

Our top picks for the festival are:

PJ HARVEY performing songs from her latest Mercury Music Prize winning album Let England Shake along with a range of her older material. As the only artist to ever win more than one Mercury Music Prize, there is no denying and no use repeating how talented she is.  The allure also comes from the fact that she is easily one of the most enigmatic female artists around.  Who else could record an album in a 19th Century church on a cliff top in Dorset without sounding like a total wank?
