“Australia(n) laneway sideshows being promo(t)ed. first ive heard of them!!!” Tweeted forward thinking UK club hero SBTRKT this morning following the announcement of 2 Laneway Festival sideshows in Melbourne and Sydney. Clearly he’s got too much stuff on at the moment to keep track of. After the success of his first ever Australian DJ tour back in October, SBTRKT will be returning to the country in February with fellow contributor Sampha for full live shows at The Metro Theatre and The Prince of Wales

For those of you who haven’t seen him before, here’s what you can expect to see from the shows – this is a live version of ‘Trials of the Past’ featuring Sampha‘s signature glowing, soulful vocals. What more appropriate a venue for this brilliant performance than Westminster’s famous Abbey Road Studios?
SBTRKT seems to be part of a wave of artists that are consolidating the way fans appreciate music. Alongside Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and Jamie XX (to name a few) he possesses credibility that stretches from the nightclub to a main festival stage. A couple of months ago we featured SBTRKT‘s stunning BBC Radio One essential mix featuring tracks from Radiohead, Hudson Mohawke, Flying Lotus and Moska. Have a listen here.
