HAVE YOU HEARD: Remi

Remi is a Melbourne Hip Hop artist with a difference, part of a new wave of Australian rappers and producers embracing futuristic tactics.  The result is a lot more soulful and organic than previous generations of this country’s musicians in this genre.

A regular fixture on Triple J's hip hop show, he’s grabbed 5 of his favourite beats and put some verses down over them, the release is available through his bandcamp page.

The second track 'Find A Way' is definitely a stand out, Remi seems to have found a way of transcending the cultural cringe of a slight Australian accent - its a shame but it can so often be a deal breaker for MCs from this country. I think the best part of his music however is his use of humour (the 3rd track on the EP is called 'Stay Up' and is all about premature ejaculation).

Remi is currently hard at work on his debut record and setting up his live show, expect to see him at Can’t Say Melbourne in the near future, stay tuned for updates and future touring plans.
