Somebody That I Used To Know is a heartbreaking tale of an ended relationship. This, combined with a repetitive percussive beat, and both Gotye’s and Kimbra’s faultless harmonies, makes a fascinating journey. Then add the video. The central vocalists become a part of the artwork, through body painting, in what would have been a meticulously planned clip. In a new take to an oft-revisited technique, the end result is beautifully inspiring.
